On Sunday, September 22nd, Times Square will host one of the most exciting and anticipated annual events for live theater fans: The Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction. Situated right smack in the middle of The Great White Way – the 27th Annual “Broadway Flea”, as it’s affectionately known, will raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Merchandise and memorabilia will be displayed on dozens and dozens of tables, available for purchase, all from past and present Broadway shows. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase autographs and photos from their favorite Broadway star at the Celebrity Autograph and Photo Booth. That’s right, all you theater maniacs – you can meet and chat live with your favorite stars up-close and in-person! How about a private lunch with Broadway legends Angela Lansbury or Judith Light?
The premier events of the day are the silent and live auctions featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and mementos. Autographed posters, Playbills and authentic props are up for grabs in the silent auction, while the live spectacle will feature many priceless items such as guest spots in current Broadway productions. A full list of items up for auction can be found here.
The capital raised through the event (more than $9 million over the years), has helped BC/EFA become “one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations”. PMD has been a proud supporter of BC/EFA since 2001, and has donated more than 20 advertising campaigns for the cause.
