SUMMER IS HERE! This means that in many of PMD’s Northern cities, people are looking for things to do, inside and out. We are proud to be getting three of New York City’s best known festivals SEEN this season, bringing theater, movies and music to a space near you.
Now in it’s fifth year, the Northside Festival will run between June 13th and June 20th. Northside, Brooklyn’s answer to the SXSW Festival in Austin, is a three part festival featuring music, independent film, and technology. While many of the panels, films and concerts require paid admission, there are two free music concerts at McCarren Park in Brooklyn. The Walkmen will headline on June 15th, and Solange will take top billing on June 16th.
Rooftop Films has been showcasing movies outdoors in New York City since 1997. From now until August, guests are invited to experience the best of underground cinema, independent features and short films in non-traditional settings. Many of the screenings are first-time premiers and most are followed by filmmaker Q & A sessions. Films include documentaries, fiction, drama, comedy and much more. The unique outdoor screening venues only add to the fun.
Now in it’s 10th year, the New York Musical Theatre Festival, or NYMF, has been a vital launching pad for the next generation of new musicals. Billed as the largest annual musical theater event in the world, this year’s festivities will run July 8th through July 28th. For three weeks, Midtown Manhattan is saturated by over 30 productions, in addition to workshops, seminars and concerts. PMD wishes to congratulate our friends at NYMF on their 10th Anniversary Year!
